Quintas, Hnos. Quintas Parras, El Estoque & La Machamona Fighting Bull Farms

HIERROS & DIVISAS

History

The Quintas family fighting bull farms group in Colmenar del Arroyo has a rich history dating back to the Civil War. Today they keep three breeds under four herds.

The Quintas and Hermanos Quintas Parras fighting bull farms, dating back to 1942, were created with cattle from Mr. Paulino Alcazar, of the Martinez breed. El Estoque fighting bull farm was created in 1991 with cows and stallions from Procampo, including cattle from the Marques de Domecq. La Machamona, from 2013, was formed with cattle from Flor de Jara, the Santa Coloma breed, Buendia line.

The family’s commitment has preserved and developed these fighting bull farms over the years.

Experience description

The tour consists of a day in nature with a guided visit by one of the owners of the fighting bull farm. The three-hour experience takes place in tractors with trailers and 4×4 vehicles.

During the visit, detailed explanations are given about the characteristics of the fighting bull farms and the estates. Visitors will see pens, loading ramps, sanitation corridors, and the feeding of the mother cows and their calves, while the selection of stallions and breeding is explained.

Halfway through the tour, refreshments are provided with local products. The day concludes in the bull pens, looking at the animals by age.

At the Quintas fighting bull farm, it can be seen more than 500 male bulls of different breeds and a wide variety of coats. The bull pens are organised by age, which allows visitors to appreciate the evolution of their size from the smallest bulls, the añojos, until they are fully developed as bulls.
